Meeting Decisions:
“You (hopefully) heard it here first: I’m no longer slated to make Wonder Woman. What? But how? My chest… so tight! Okay, stay calm and I’ll explain as best I can. It’s pretty complicated, so bear with me. I had a take on the film that, well, nobody liked. Hey, not that complicated.

Let me stress first that everybody at the studio and Silver Pictures were cool and professional. We just saw different movies, and at the price range this kind of movie hangs in, that’s never gonna work. Non-sympatico. It happens all the time. I don’t think any of us expected it to this time, but it did. Everybody knows how long I was taking, what a struggle that script was, and though I felt good about what I was coming up with, it was never gonna be a simple slam-dunk. I like to think it rolled around the rim a little bit, but others may have differing views. On the supply side, I believe that a little sacrifice isn’t too much to ask. I am not talking about the sacrifices our grandparents made during WWII rationing and recycling metals and other materials, just watching what we use. All I am advocating is making one or two less trips a week by thinking ahead, by going to the store maybe once a week not two or three times. Recipes - Food Recipes

Realistically, I find this to be impossible on a large scale. Americans don’t like change in habits. Just like what I discussed earlier why Clinton or Obama won’t be elected, we like the status quo and take a long time to get comfortable with new things. That’s why we are slower to accept certain technologies like cell phones and broadband internet in comparison to the rest of the world.

I forgot to defrost any chicken, so I opted for tofu–I made basically ghetto stirfry: tofu, frozen veggies, and about 500 spices, Sriracha sauce, soy sauce, ginger, water chestnuts, more scallions (that’s what happens when you’re single and a fridge full of veggies–y ou have to eat them all at once), and a few cashews. It was quite yummy, and I didn’t really care if I had rice or not. In the meantime I screwed up by opening my bag of cashews–I had bought a big back at J.R.Tobacco (this humongus tsckotche shop of crap you really don’t need, but some cool stuff mixed in like discontinued cosmetics and perfume) on the way home from GSO awhile back “for company” and now that it open, its one of those foods I can’t stop eating. I’ve been good. Its that salty/fat combo that gets me every time.

So, you know, 2008 has not been ruled out, some kind of effort. Certainly now it is questionable as to whether that effort would come under the banner of the Democratic Party. There’s no way that with the current crop of candidates who are all supporting a military action against Iran and who none of them support impeachment. They can not speak for me any longer.
An innocent man’s romanticidn’t It Hurt When You Fell From Heaven?

Is there a woman alive who would fall from these suggestions from a collection of pick-up lines?

If their top-rated suggestion does not have the desired effect, then try in one of six languages to say: “Didn’t it hurt when you fell from heaven?”
The Russians have never understood us. I have come to believe they genuinely FEAR Americans. They cannot understand our lust for freedom of thought, and action, and our willingness to take risks in order to better the generation following ours. The Russians shrink from the whole concept of opening up to the remainder of the world and becoming a part of it. Given a chance, as they had in the early 1990’s, they will always choose to shrink back into the shadows and throw up a wall, or fortress, to keep the rest of us out. And, in the case of the commies, to keep those who are “mentally imbalanced” and “tend toward western thought”, in!

So, it came as no surprised to learn this week that the Russkies have a new intercontinental ballistic missile which will, at least they say it will, penetrate our missile shield. Surprised? No! Expecting it? Yes! Event when our government offered the shield to Russia they turned it down so they could continue their lives in fear of freedom and fear that somebody, anybody, will attack and take their beloved Russia.

I have news for them. The US doesn’t want Russia. Oh, sure, we’d like to have the oil fields, but we’re not about to fight them for it. We’d rather buy it from them.

So, the “mean ole Russia” is back. In a way it is comforting. When a man reaches my age, it is somehow exhilarating to observe nations acting as we have been used to them acting. No surprises. Now, maybe, we can get back to the 2-polar world again. You know, East versus West as God intended! I mean, I became used to it. And frankly, I sorta miss it. We knew WHO our enemy was, we knew WHERE he was, and we knew how to kill him in great numbers. Beats the hell outta fighting these Islamofacists! The Russians may be paranoid, but they are NOT crazy!

Heck, from the way her platform would sound, I think she’d garner tons of support with the Democratic base and as a result, she might get as much attention as Cindy Sheehan did, except over a longer period of time, and the entire country could really get an up close and personal look at how far the left has fallen over the cliff. She’s also got friends in low places with a few credibility issues, like noted Socialism-lover

Gore lost the 2000 presidential election to President Bush. Gore, who lost the electoral vote despite winning the popular vote, now views the U.S. political system as flawed.

Flawed because, dangit, he just can’t seem to get elected:

“It may be easier to fix it from the outside,” he said. “Again, I haven’t ruled out for all time thinking about politics again. It’s just that the way it works now, I don’t think that the skills I have are the ones that are most likely to be rewarded within this system. It’s like a washing machine that is permanently set on the spin cycle. It doesn’t stop spinning. That creates real problems for a politics based on reason.”

And Gore, we know, would never ever spin an issue …

This is just more of Gore’s typical arrogance shining through. It’s the system’s fault, not his, that he can’t get elected to the WH. Uh huh.

Because of these facts, the telling was only believed by those who knew the original “me” and could recognize the changes. It was those Precious Others who made it possible for me (both the old and new) to begin telling. Once it started I found it impossible to stop. Of course, I still qualified everything, taking as much blame as possible, downplaying the abuse as if I could somehow redeem it. Thankfully those I was telling could quickly recognize when it was the old me or the new who was speaking. Until I was able to make the decision to flee, they helped to slowly strip away the new me, peeling back the layers of protective deceit and false happiness until they found the person they once knew. The real me.

Time passes.

I ask off work and trot to my Eye Doc In A Box. I get there and there are about eight girls wandering around behind the counter. They all appear to be doing “something” and they could have been doing the same thing. It was hard to tell, they all looked very busy. I was the only patient .

I gave the girl standing closest to the counter my name. Nothing. I offered that I had an appointment. Like now. Still nothing. She was looking at her screen. She asked me to spell my name, first and last. Still nothing. She asked who I made my appointment with. I told her I didn’t know. I was thinking, Why on earth would I remember who answered the phone? Who remembers that kind of thing? And besides, there are 126 girls working behind the counter right now, How should I be able to remember which Kristi I spoke with? Why would it matter, everyone here is named “Kristi”. While I was thinking this they asked each other if they had spoke with me. The Kristi’s couldn’t remember. They asked me again with whom I spoke with, I again told them I didn’t remember.

Then I said “Some one from this office called and confirmed with me yesterday”
Once I saw the difference in all of its raw glory, the telling spread from those Precious Others to a pastor and some friends. It was their involvement that began the escalation of the abuse and the eventual necessity of my leaving.
So I didn’t start the fire (of telling), but I didn’t put it out, either. It was that fire that lit the path that led me home.

Shocking: Democrats sidestepping their own earmark rules

Rollcall (scroll) first reported on this back on May 23, the WaPo picked it up (scroll) on May 24, and the AP has finally picked up the story:

WASHINGTON - After promising unprecedented openness regarding Congress’ pork barrel practices, House Democrats are moving in the opposite direction as they draw up spending bills for the upcoming budget year.

Democrats are sidestepping rules approved their first day in power in January to clearly identify “earmarks” — lawmakers’ requests for specific projects and contracts for their states.

Rather than including specific pet projects, grants and contracts in legislation as it is being written, Democrats are following an order by the House Appropriations Committee chairman to keep the bills free of such earmarks until it is too late for critics to effectively challenge them.
